SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION:


  • This position facilitates learning, academic achievement and personal development by providing instruction to students. This position also develops and implements curriculum and lesson plans, utilizes technology to facilitate learning, and demonstrates understanding the varying learning styles and the needs of a diverse student population. Knowledge of printed media, digital presentation media and interactive media as well as artistic techniques to effectively communicate ideas and information to businesses and customer audiences. Must also be familiar with concept design, layout, engraving, etching, skilscreen, lithography, drawing and cartooning, painting, collage, and computer graphics. Experience with Digital software such as Photo Shop, Adobe Creative Suite and web design.
Should also have experience with Cameras and photographic equipment.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Preferred: Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with special education endorsements registered in Lake County.
  • Required: Illinois substitute license or Illinois teaching license
  • Job Qualifications:
  • 1) Experience and education in a related art field is required. (Design, Photography Web, Animation, Film Etc.)
  • 2) Ability to read, write and communicate in a professional manner, with students, staff, and parents.
  • 3) Experience working with students and students with special needs preferred.
  • 4) Experience with Graphic Design and Photography is required.
  • 5) Experience with Video, Animation & Web is preferred.
  • 6) Experience with vinyl printing, screenprinting, laser engraving is preferred but not required.

  • 1. Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas for which the teacher is responsible for instructing, including specialized knowledge in certain fields such as reading, mathematics, science, business, music, art, languages, and so forth, as appropriate;

  • 1. Advises, assists, and supervises students, as appropriate, with internships, volunteering and community service projects, securing training stations and employment including employment forms, and regarding various District, State and national competitions;
  • Implements the goals, objectives and standards of the District, the school, and the specific program or department, following a prescribed course of study as delineated in curriculum outlines and authorized by the building principal, developing, adapting, and updating curriculum; and developing and implementing lesson plans;
