Description

Responsible for leading a group of employees in support of the production activities of the organization under demands of production quotas and deadlines.

The department is structured as a formal team and requires the ability to work within the team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a group of employees, oversee work activities, and engage in various forms of communication and judgment.
  • Train employees in proper procedures and job skills.
  • Maintain quality standards for all parts produced.
  • Perform manual repairs using various hand tools and other devices, and/or relieve employees who are working on the line.
  • Input and/or look up data on the computer and or in files or other documents to maintain paperwork and reporting requirements of the job.
  • Perform qualityrelated activities including but not limited to reading gages, or other devices, process verification, etc.
  • Diagnose minor equipment failures or machine jams.
  • Perform inventory and cycle counts as directed by supervision.
  • Assign work to employees at the start of each shift, and/or communicate various other information. required to ensure smooth production.
  • Ensure employees comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform basic housekeeping to keep the area clean and safe.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two plus years of experience in automotive manufacturing.

Competencies

  • Ability to lead a group of employees in support of production activities.
  • Ability to maintain adherence to established procedures and guidelines.
  • Mechanical ability and problemsolving skills sufficient to assist in line changeovers and/or diagnosing machine malfunctions.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to model company appropriate behaviors and to set proper examples for subordinates.
  • Operate electronic and manual micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of AITF16949 Quality Standards
  • Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of employees.
  • Computer literacy skills include the ability to perform data entry and to operate visual 'touch screen' display panels.
  • Knowledge of related safety requirements
  • Math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks are required.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position leads a group of assembly operators and is responsible for the performance management within that group.


Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on the plant floor.

The hours for this position are 4:15PM to 4AM.

The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
