The Assistant Director of Special Projects will organize, lead, and participate in implementation of unique hospital billing projects, falling outside the scope of current workflow.

The specific responsibilities and purpose of projects vary, depending on the needs at the time and any process gaps. The Assistant Director of Special Projects will participate in the implementation of and management of projects from initiation to completion within Patient Accounts

General tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Direct and participate in special projects that span the enterprise. The project lead for multiple initiatives of importance to improving hospital billing operations
  • Create long
- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines

  • Distribute project management updates to key participants and leadership to ensure all stakeholders are engaged and aware of issues confronting projects.
  • Use project management tools to track, hold teams accountable for deliverables and the proper management of assigned initiatives
  • Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are participating on a project that requires coordination
  • Communicate with H+H leadership on project progress. Ensure roadblocks are escalated and information required for effective decisions are distributed
  • Ensure project decisions are documented and vetted prior to implementation
  • Manage multiple initiatives, identify and prioritize issues to meet aggressive timelines and organizational goals
  • Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
  • Maintains key performance indicators to measure project development and post implementation to ensure success is achieved and maintained
  • Participate in the consolidation of workflows and functions as aligned with Corporate initiatives.
  • Maintains a tracker of projects and implementation dates with updates and evolutions noted
  • Coordinate the development of standard work and policies. Ensure current standard work and policy documents are uptodate.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline with an emphasis on accounting and financial systems; and two (2) years of responsible-level experience in fiscal management or administration with an emphasis on financial systems, management information and controls, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity; or
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in "1" above; and three (3) years of experience, as described in "1" above, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity.

Department Preferences

  • Bachelors of Art or Sciences in Health Care Administration, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Health or related field
  • Experience and expertise with healthcare and payer guidelines as it pertains to billing, reimbursement and securing visits as well as of the overall operational impact to the clinical departments.
  • Understand key revenue cycle metrics and performance indicators and provide reporting of operational and financial performance
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Excellent timemanagement skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently at times when necessary
  • Demonstrates the highest degree of accuracy and readability for all work and team projects
  • Goaloriented work ethic to meet short term and annual personal and department goals
  • Minimum of 5 years finance experience in healthcare receivables management in a medical center or multihospital system or related organization
