The Director of Digital Learning is the leader to help establish and bring to life a digital product vision for training in the construction trades.

This leader will report to and work side-by-side with the Chief Learning Officer to identify and evaluate new opportunities, develop go-to-market strategies, negotiate partnerships, support partner collaborations, and create the conditions necessary for innovation.

The Director of Digital Learning leads a team responsible for delivering a wide range of online courses and digitally supported learning experiences, as well as our LMS, testing, and assessment platforms.


Major Duties

1. Drive and facilitate digital product development activities across the entire product development lifecycle.

  • Together with executive leadership, lead the envisioning, definition, design and development of digital products and experiences across all consumer and business domains to drive strategic outcomes, value, and associated consumer engagement.
  • Manage products throughout the product lifecycle including gathering and prioritizing requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with key business stakeholders to deliver winning products and create partner, industry, and organizational value.

2. Manage the Digital Learning budget, prepare budget proposals, and develop funding strategies to support identified digital learning product needs.


3. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of the NCCER Learning Platform (LMS), Testing System (TAO), and Assessment platform. This includes requirements definition, ensuring clarity on timelines, testing, and dependency management for other tools and teams who rely on these systems. This also includes responsibility for managing the prioritization of items requiring developer time, effort, and budget (if applicable).

  • Responsible for clear, documented requirements for all customizations and development work serving as a 'filter' of these requirements with the system developers, helping to ensure quality, stability, consistency, completeness, and alignment with the overall vision and roadmap for LMS platform.
  • Responsible for supporting integration work as it relates to the LMS platform to ensure that system intricacies are well understood and that integrations function as expected.
  • Responsible for creating and documenting testing plans and results for system updates and feature releases.
  • Responsible for communicating information on system updates and feature releases, including updated training (if required), updated documentation (if required), and an updated log of changes (e.g., release notes).

4. Build the culture of continuous innovation by delivering tangible and showable outcomes in the digital product focus areas - in the form of solutions, proof of value, concept prototypes, and more.


5. Drive innovation and adoption of new, relevant, emerging technologies to design new compelling digital products and experiences.


6. Collaborate on planning and executing go-to-market activities with workforce development, sales, and marketing leaders

  • Lead trainthetrainer sessions with product demos to internal and external customers
  • Develop the core positioning and messaging for the digital products

7. Lead the team in ongoing product support, including troubleshooting customer issues, working to establish processes after launch, SLAs, and other best practices


8. Establish and maintain digital product metrics, goals, and quality standards.


9. Work closely with product development, marketing, and other stakeholders to identify needs and sharpen digital product offerings based on feedback from customers, partners, and competitive offerings.


10. Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities. Be an expert with respect to competition and industry ecosystems ecosystems


Requirements:


  • BS in related field and ten years of relevant work experience focused on digital products, educational technology or digital learning content
  • Experience in people management of remote and inhouse team members
  • Has a track record of creating an inspiring vision and strategy and managing roadmap deployments
  • Significant experience in managing complex and critical path relationships with external vendors and business partners
  • Creative thinker who is imaginative, collaborative, and truly excited about building great digital products and experiences.
  • Demonstrated track record of being resourceful, analytical, and selfmotivated with a passion for attention to detail
  • Can balance strong user understanding and the ability execute with precision and speed.
  • Deep data and analytics capabilities are essential.
  • Topnotch communication and collaboration skills coupled with a servant leader attitude must be the leader's foundation.
  • A strong understanding of educational principles, learning technology, and digital learning
