A certificate or diploma program, along with administrative experience in a medical environment, can prepare an individual for this career,
Work Experience
Previous experience in a hospital patient registration setting, doctors office, handling patients scheduling, obtaining pre-certifications, authorizations and referrals or patient services environment strongly preferred; and/or Previous experience in a census management, assigning beds, position preferred; and/or Previous experience in a patient services environment , billing/collections-must have a working knowledge of more than one provider such as Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs and others,
Experience in completing medical assistance application , family care, PEs, PAICs or charity care, helpful,
Experience in a customer service related environment preferred,
Well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and communicate with persons of varying acuities,
Must be able to work with the public and maintain poise under difficult situations at all times,
Knowledge of medical technology helpful,
Good typing and computer skills a must,
Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred,
Job Requirements:
High School diploma preferred
At least 1 year experience preferred
