  • The School District of Waukesha is hiring a
    School Counselor for the school year for Waukesha South High School.

Specific Responsibilities:


  • Delivers assigned guidance services within the scope of district philosophy and goals
  • Provides one-to-one as well as group counseling
  • Keeps records by utilizing appropriate forms
  • Plans and participates in classroom presentation activities related to the areas of decision making, self-understanding and career awareness
  • Plans, organizes and implements activities for prospective high school students and their parents in order to prepare them for their transition to the high school
  • Designs and initiates activities aimed at assisting students to adjust to changes in school
  • Facilitates the delivery of services to all assigned students
  • Initiates contact and/or accepts appointments with students who have academic, personal and educational problems or concerns
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other district personnel, specialists and/or community agencies
  • Helps students towards realistic self-appraisal through interpretation of various assessment instruments
  • Distributes relevant educational and career information to students and parents as they make decisions regarding courses and program selection
  • Helps students plan for post-high school job, education and/or career and assists the placement of students into colleges, technical schools, apprenticeship programs, jobs, the military, etc.
  • Provides information and consultation services to staff regarding students and interprets student needs to staff
  • Works with parents in order to help them deal with areas of concern
  • Acts as liaison on behalf of students with teachers and administrative personnel
  • Serves as consultant in curriculum change and development
  • Participates in school and/or community committees related to guidance services
  • Assist with student scheduling

Education or Experience:


  • Master's Degree in School Counseling or degree appropriate to position.
  • Certification from the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
