- The School District of Waukesha is hiring a
School Counselor for the school year for Waukesha South High School.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Delivers assigned guidance services within the scope of district philosophy and goals
- Provides one-to-one as well as group counseling
- Keeps records by utilizing appropriate forms
- Plans and participates in classroom presentation activities related to the areas of decision making, self-understanding and career awareness
- Plans, organizes and implements activities for prospective high school students and their parents in order to prepare them for their transition to the high school
- Designs and initiates activities aimed at assisting students to adjust to changes in school
- Facilitates the delivery of services to all assigned students
- Initiates contact and/or accepts appointments with students who have academic, personal and educational problems or concerns
- Makes appropriate referrals to other district personnel, specialists and/or community agencies
- Helps students towards realistic self-appraisal through interpretation of various assessment instruments
- Distributes relevant educational and career information to students and parents as they make decisions regarding courses and program selection
- Helps students plan for post-high school job, education and/or career and assists the placement of students into colleges, technical schools, apprenticeship programs, jobs, the military, etc.
- Provides information and consultation services to staff regarding students and interprets student needs to staff
- Works with parents in order to help them deal with areas of concern
- Acts as liaison on behalf of students with teachers and administrative personnel
- Serves as consultant in curriculum change and development
- Participates in school and/or community committees related to guidance services
- Assist with student scheduling

Education or Experience:
- Master's Degree in School Counseling or degree appropriate to position.
- Certification from the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
