Description
The School District of Waukesha is hiring a
School Counselor for the school year for Waukesha South High School.

Specific Responsibilities:

Delivers assigned guidance services within the scope of district philosophy and goals
Provides one-to-one as well as group counseling
Keeps records by utilizing appropriate forms
Plans and participates in classroom presentation activities related to the areas of decision making, self-understanding and career awareness
Plans, organizes and implements activities for prospective high school students and their parents in order to prepare them for their transition to the high school
Designs and initiates activities aimed at assisting students to adjust to changes in school
Facilitates the delivery of services to all assigned students
Initiates contact and/or accepts appointments with students who have academic, personal and educational problems or concerns
Makes appropriate referrals to other district personnel, specialists and/or community agencies
Helps students towards realistic self-appraisal through interpretation of various assessment instruments
Distributes relevant educational and career information to students and parents as they make decisions regarding courses and program selection
Helps students plan for post-high school job, education and/or career and assists the placement of students into colleges, technical schools, apprenticeship programs, jobs, the military, etc.
Provides information and consultation services to staff regarding students and interprets student needs to staff
Works with parents in order to help them deal with areas of concern
Acts as liaison on behalf of students with teachers and administrative personnel
Serves as consultant in curriculum change and development
Participates in school and/or community committees related to guidance services
Assist with student scheduling
