Job Title: Medical Biller II

Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00-5:00 pm

Reports to: Billing Supervisor

Primary Objectives: Post charges in a timely manner for optimum reimbursement. Reduce aging percentages. Maintain privacy and protection of patient information. Comply with all OSHA requirements.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

· Review personal balances and follow up accordingly

· Confirm and/or enter demographic data in EHR

· Post payments to accounts, both personal and insurance

· Answer patient inquiries in person or by phone

· Update insurance in EHR and rebill insurance

· Post hospital charges

· Review charges are accurate before releasing to insurance

• Other duties as assigned

· Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices

• Ability to lift up to 25# unassisted; use hand truck for greater weight

• Ability to be up/down from workstation

• Retrieve faxes, make copies and disseminate information as needed

Work Environment:

• Can be very noisy at times

• Good hearing essential, assisted or unassisted

· Long periods of sitting

· Occasional encounters with difficult patients

Education and Experience:

• Minimum high school graduate/GED

· Graduate of accredited business or medical billing program preferred

• Knowledge of insurance companies (HMO, PPO)

• Experience in fast paced environment

· Prior billing experience preferred

· Bilingual Spanish is a plus
