    Description


    The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing IT projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget constraints.

    This role involves defining project objectives, managing resources, and coordinating with team members, stakeholders, and external consultants.

    The Senior level entails handling larger and more complex projects independently, with a focus on project success and effective communication with stakeholders.

    Key responsibilities include project planning, resource allocation, progress tracking, change management, documentation, training, and on-time delivery within budget. The role also involves strategic planning, acquisition and deployment of resources, operational management, and building strong business relationships.

    The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of project management concepts, technical skills, and relevant educational background or professional experience in IT project leadership.

    General Duties

    Manages projects that often involve network, server, or software implementation and upgrades, PC deployment and other similar projects.

    Coordinates work done by IT staff and internal customers/partners by defining project requirements, performing feasibility and needs/impact assessments.


    Develops detailed project plans and manages all implementation processes including resource allocation, progress tracking, monitoring change control process, testing, documentation, training, and on-time delivery within budget constraints.

    Strategy & Planning

    Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

    Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders ina timelyand clear fashion.

    Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

    Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.

    Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones usingappropriate tools.

    Track project milestones and deliverables.

    Determinethe frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.

    Define project success criteria anddisseminatethem to involved parties throughout project life cycle.

    Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations reportin order toidentifysuccessful and unsuccessful project elements.

    Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

    Acquisition & Deployment

    Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.

    Draft andsubmitbudget proposals and recommendsubsequentbudget changes where necessary.

    Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.

    Determineand assess need foradditionalstaff and/or consultants and make theappropriate recruitments, if necessary, during project cycle.

    Operational Management

    Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.

    Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.

    Delegate tasks and responsibilities toappropriate personnel.

    Identifyand resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

    Identifyand manage project dependencies and critical path.

    Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.

    Proactively manage changes in project scope,identifypotential crises, and devise contingency plans.


    Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

    Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

    Extensive knowledge of concepts, processes, and tools of project management. Well-developed technical skills within project management.


    Skill in the use of personal computers and their associated connectivity and networking; and in assessing the status of IT systems andidentifyingunderlying causes for failures and disruptions in service, and the methods to remediate these issues.


    Ability to plan and carry outvirtually alltypical assignments within professional area; to train others; to build effective relationships within the City organization.


    Education and Experience:
    Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience


    Bachelor's degree in computer science,engineering,or business (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis).

    5 years of specific professional experience such as team or project lead.

    Preferred Qualifications - Education & Experience


    Master's degree in computer science,engineeringor business (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the master's degree on an exception basis) with 5-8 years of experience.

    Licensures and Certifications

    Nonerequired.
