- Valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or equivalent or experience as a school custodian
- Demonstrate general knowledge of the basic techniques of electrical repair, maintenance, carpentry and grounds maintenance
- Demonstrate ability to organize, perform minor repairs and a willingness to work with others.
- Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community.
- Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
- Good health, high moral character and good attendance record.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students.
- Assist the Head Custodian with the scheduling of cleaning and work projects, guide maintenance and direct other custodians on the evening shift. Assume the duties of the head custodian in his/her absence.
- Constantly strive to promote the safety, health and comfort of the students and employees.
- Report areas that need special maintenance to the head custodian.
- Take pride in personal appearance; keep person clean and keep clothing neat.
- Sweep, scrub and refinish floors.
- Dust and polish furniture and woodwork.
- Replenish supplies in restrooms.
- Empty and clean wastebaskets.
- Keep windows clean and wash chalk boards.
- Make minor repairs to building, furniture, equipment, etc. and report the need for other repairs to the head custodian.
- Cooperate with staff and direct building cleaning on the night shift.
- Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Conduct other duties related to the Assistant Head Custodian's duties as assigned by the principal or business manager.
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
- Occasional interaction among unruly children.

Qualifications:
General Description:
In addition to regular custodial duties, shall be involved in the planning and overseeing of the night maintenance and custodial operation of the building and grounds in cooperation with the Head Custodian.
Essential Functions:
Keep inventory records of janitorial equipment and supplies.
Assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.

Assure the building is secured at the end of the shift.

Replace ballast and light bulbs as needed.
Clean walks and drives as needed; perform snow and ice removal as appropriate.

Clean building during summer.
17.
Complete reports and forms as required.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
