Machine Shop Assistant - Mesa, United States - Inter-Coastal Electronics

Description

Under the supervision of the Production Manager and machinist, this position operates various machine shop equipment including CNC mills, lathes, other machinery, shop equipment and tools.

Performs general cleanup of the shop and preventive maintenance of machines. Prepares material for the machinist and assists in parts finishing.


Responsibilities/Skills:

• Prepares raw materials, including metal, plastic, or composite parts for machining.
• Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required and under supervision of the machinist.
• Refills/changes machine coolant and oils.
• Cleans out machines and maintains the chip barrels.
• Sweeps and mops the floors.
• Use solvents for cleaning in a safe manner.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• May assist in parts finishing through part cleaning, tumbling, deburring, or media blasting.
• Must be able to operate with mínimal supervision, once trained, by following work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Wear proper safety equipment and comply with company safety rules at all times.
• Make a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is healthy, safe, neat, and tidy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Problem Solving and Discretion/Latitude:

• Basic knowledge of the general job requirements and some understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
• Close supervision involving detailed instructions and constant checking on performance.

Knowledge/Requirements:

• H.S. Diploma or GED. Completion of formal apprenticeship, college certificate, or certification preferred.
• Quality system awareness.
• Ability to read and write English, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Simple shop math.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy machinery and parts.
• Must observe all safety rules and utilize safety gear as required.

Pay:
$ $17.67 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
