Job Summary and Qualifications:


As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will carry out the treatment plan for patients as established by the Physical Therapists.

You will communicate with therapists about changes in patient status. You will assist in stocking supplies and in other maintenance duties for the department.

  • You will administer physical therapy in accordance with American Physical Therapy association ethical standards, Texas State licensure rules, St. David's policies and procedures and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • You will communicate regularly with supervising Physical Therapist to ensure that patient goals are properly assessed and the patient progresses appropriately
  • You will document diagnosis of the patient and take all precautions for observing indications and contraindications
  • You will document patient's progress and response to treatment in areas of mobility, strength, balance, gait, endurance, pain or wound needs
  • You will respond to acute changes in patient's physiological state and modifies techniques as indicated
  • You will demonstrate knowledge and skills in treatment of general medical patients including orthopedics, cardiac rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation and wound care
Job Qualifications

Experience

  • One year experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant preferred
Education

  • Associate Degree in Physical Therapy from a college or university accredited by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) by the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as required per St. David's HealthCare policy
