Job Summary:

The Insurance Verification Specialist III is responsible for verifying health insurance benefits for all new patients or existing patients.

This position will contact patient's insurance company to verify coverage levels and works with patients to walk them through their benefits information.

Notify patient and help arrange alternative payment methods when insurance coverage does not cover services.


Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, to ensure necessary procedures are covered by an individual's provider.
  • Notify patient and help arrange alternative payment methods when insurance coverage does not cover services.
  • Responsible for entering data in an accurate manner in order to update patient benefit information correctly in EMR and verify that existing information is accurate.
  • Perform routine administrative and clerical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly.
  • Maintain service standards in accordance with the departmental/organizational policies.
  • Answer patient questions to ensure understanding and patient satisfaction, or refers them to more senior level staff. Maintain confidentiality on matters to which they are privileged.
  • Consistently review eligibility responses in insurance verification system.
  • Verify insurance coverage in a timely matter.
  • Request payments from patients and guarantors where appropriate.
  • Perform related duties as assigned within scope of practice.
  • Complete insurance verification for more complex visit types (e.g. major surgery).
  • Act as a point of escalation and monitor supervisory or secondary work queues.
  • Work with complex insurance companies for verifications.
  • Assist supervisor/manager with monitoring inbound phone calls, call queue wait times and other assigned functions.
  • Assists with training support of new hires.

Job Requirements:


  • High school graduate or GED certificate is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a physician billing or third party payer environment.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Functional proficiency in computer software skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Email, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must successfully complete systems training requirements.

Hourly Rate Ranges:
$ $36.06

Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
