Position Summary:


Teaches bright children with learning disabilities by utilizing curriculum material adopted by the school as well as appropriate supplemental and teacher-made materials.

Develops appropriate lesson plans that accommodate the range of learning styles and specialized needs of students in the classroom. Creates a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation. Actively participates with colleagues in curriculum development, teaming, and collaboration. Documents progress on academic goals and objectives. The Summer School Teacher is a

June 17, 2024- July 26, 2024

Position Salary & Benefits:

This position offers a salary of
$50.00 per hour.


Essential Functions:


  • Teach children with moderate to severe learning disabilities.
  • Develop appropriate lesson plans that accommodate the range of learning styles and specialized needs of students in the classroom.
  • Create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and selfmotivation.
  • Actively participate with colleagues in curriculum development, teaming, and collaboration.
  • Document progress on academic goals and objectives.
Perform basic hardware and software troubleshooting and correct problems when possible.

  • Report hardware and software problems to Director or Principal.
  • Encourage and support the use of technology as a teaching tool in the classroom.
  • Plan lessons that accommodate the range of learning styles and specialized needs of students in the classroom.
  • Plan and prepare lesson procedures for substitute teachers.
  • Plan collaboratively with faculty and staff.
  • Analyze lesson presentation and anticipate when and how learning occurs through reflective practices. Identify curricular skills and concepts when developing and implementing instructional plans.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, parent conferences, and other meetings.
  • Administer and interpret appropriate standardized and informal assessment instruments.
  • Demonstrate a variety of teaching techniques and strategies that address the multiple intelligences and learning styles. Evaluate the success of lessons by determining how and to what extent students transfer their knowledge.
  • Develop and suggest appropriate instructional modifications for use in general education classes.
  • Anticipate needs and demonstrate efficiency and organization when transitioning from one activity to another.
  • Facilitate the development of classroom rules, which establish and maintain a safe and secure environment that is conducive to learning and clearly communicate expectations to students and parents.
  • Maintain regular attendance as documented by the number of days present and attends required meetings.
  • Exhibit punctuality as observed in arrival and departure times from building and required committee meetings.

Skills and knowledge Requirements:

A minimum of two years of teaching experience preferred. Experience with children with diagnosed learning disabilities required.
Assistive technology experience required.

Experience with Orton Gillingham-based reading instruction preferred but we will provide training in Wilson Language Training at a significantly reduced rate.

Experience coaching or in extracurricular class setting preferred.


Education/Experience Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
Special Education degree or certification preferred
