an Assistant Controller at our manufacturing facility located in
Ingersoll, Ontario_.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Controller maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

  • Continuously in contact with persons inside and outside organization as member of Heavy-Duty team
  • Timely financial reporting, financial cost analysis, and interpreting financial information for senior management.
  • Ability to support more than one location and more than one currency
  • Development and reporting of KPI's for various operational areas.
  • Balance Sheet management, including physical inventory counts, monitoring inventory metrics, days sales, days payables, customer credit oversight, etc.
  • Financial closings and balance sheet reconciliations to support the General Ledger
  • Annual budgeting and capital planning processes. Monthly forecasting
  • Develop, maintain and monitor internal controls.
  • Maintain and monitor accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the systems, plans and objectives in the area of financial analysis, controls and reporting, taxation, treasury and audit are consistent with Corporate and Divisional goals.
  • Preparation of monthly sales tax and corporate income tax filings
  • Collecting and producing information for Corporate and/or Divisional planning and control
  • Capital expenditure planning, management and approval (monthly and annual).
  • Management information systems integrity for financial reporting.
  • Maintain and keep abreast of accounting standards and developments (professional development).
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times

Requirements:


Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or comparable discipline and 5+ years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • CPA designation preferred.

Skills Needed to be successful in this position:

  • Current knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (ASPE). Knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • General and cost accounting knowledge including standard costing.
  • Experienced and comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working with manufacturing ERP systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and One Stream would be an asset. Experience with system upgrades and/or implementations is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills. Team player. Data driven problem solver.
  • Strong computer literacy. Highly proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and/or stressful situations. Ability to handle frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to respond positively to and with employees.
  • Welcomes innovation. Willingness to drive change as and where needed.
  • Decisive ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Strong communicator and selfmotivated. Leads by example.
  • Work closely with and manage relationship with bank(s) credit, treasury and cash management; external accounting firm (audit, tax, special projects); Corporate Functional Leaders.
  • Comfortable working closely with IT and HR.

Knowledge desired:


  • Ability to work in multiple currencies and legislations
  • Advanced Excel, ERP systems and financial systems and processes
