Overview
The 3W&C Surgical Unit at the Huntsville Hospital for Women/Children campus offers a challenging workflow for the staff. This adult surgical floor receives a variety of patients that includes GYN, GYN Oncology, Breast Cancer, Postpartum, low risk Antepartum, ENT, Plastics, Pain, Ortho, and Ocular diagnoses. LPN orientation consists of working with an experienced RN and length of orientation is typically 6-12 weeks depending on experience. New PCA & HCA's are orientated by experienced unit PCA's & HCA's and length of orientation is dependent on each new employee. The clinical staff is trained to care for the post-op adult as well as adult medical patients. The staff on 3WSE works closely with health care providers to provide excellent care and compassion to their customers. Our staff has the opportunity to participate in Shared Governance, Clinical Ladder programs, and CEU offerings available online & at Corporate University.The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a broad array of nursing tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider. The individual provides direct patient care for diverse patient populations that vary in gender, age, socioeconomic status, education, physical and mental abilities, locations, sexual lifestyle, and racial and ethnic background. The LPN implements technical nursing procedures according to established policies and procedures and plan of care, assists and reinforces routine patient education, and documents patient care appropriately. The LPN communicates and interacts with other team members to facilitate teamwork and delivery of quality care.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of State board School of Practical Nursing with current Alabama or multi-state licensure.
Experience: Experienced/New Graduate
Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period.
