The academic teaching hospital is a primary care provider with approximately Now applybeds. The Medical Clinic treats various forms of diabetes (e.g. type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, secondary forms of diabetes, diabetes after pancreatic surgery).

The acute care hospital is located in the state of Hesse and is the only Hanseatic city in this state.
