Whether it's single-family homes, high-rise buildings, office buildings, industrial buildings, new constructions or renovation work - the bricklayer is one of the first workers on the construction site.
Prior to the start of construction, bricklayers review the building plans, order materials, and prepare the necessary machinery. They begin by pouring the foundation, building wooden formwork, and inserting steel reinforcements. Then they fill the formwork with liquid concrete. Once the concrete has hardened, they remove the formwork. With the foundation in place, the bricklaying begins. Bricklayers mix mortar or adhesive and layer bricks on top of each other. They also handle all exterior and interior plastering work. They may also install chimneys or lay floor tiles.
