The
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seeks a
Stock and Space Coordinator for its operations in Stepan and Nieuwland Halls.

In this dynamic and team-oriented research environment, we seek an individual who is focused on customer service, safety, and building relationships with units across the University.


The position entails the following activities:

  • Receiving, separating, and verifying purchase orders and delivering ordered items, including time
- and temperature-sensitive materials

  • Management, billing and general oversight of gas cylinder, liquid nitrogen, and dry ice orders
  • Ordering, managing, and distributing items related to laboratory safety, including lab coats, eye protection, and sharps containers
  • Working closely with the Facility Technology Associate Director as an additional point of contact for maintenance requests and work orders related to infrastructure
  • Assisting labs with chemical and equipment management, auditing, and inventory
  • Assisting the Facility Technology Associate Director in coordinating office and research laboratory renovations and the repurposing of office/laboratory space
  • Key Master responsibility for Stepan and Nieuwland and maintaining a log of building citizens.

Minimum Qualifications:


Education & Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 to 6 months

Skills:


  • Knowledge and facility with Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with basic accounting procedures
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Some experience working in a chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering environment.

Physical requirements:


  • Lifting/moving of moderately heavy items (~ 25 lbs)
  • Exposure to cryogens; exposure to strong magnetic fields.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Training in building management or in research technology is desirable.
  • One year certificate or training from college or technical school
