    Position Summary


    Works with management and key community stakeholders to coordinate, respond, and improve health outcomes related to the opioid epidemic in Shelby County.

    Works collaboratively across agencies to provide leadership to drive improvement in health outcomes and reduction of health inequities.

    Pay Grade: 51

    Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

    Minimum Qualifications

    100% -•Three (3) years of experience in public health, health promotion or education; and


    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, health administration, health promotion or closely related field; or
    • An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
    • Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.
    Duties and Responsibilities


    • Assists in building and strengthening a community-based network to reduce opioid use disorder in Shelby County.
    • Facilitates and maintains partnerships with community stakeholders to execute the Shelby County Opioid Response Task Force Plan.
    • Facilitates Shelby County Opioid Response Task Force workgroups to achieve defined objectives and identify causes and solutions to opioid addiction.
    • Builds community awareness and support through promotion, media, Shelby County Opioid Speakers presentations, informational materials, talking points, and curricula.
    • Leads, coordinates, and ensures effective implementation of outreach events such as

    START:
    Strategic Team Accessing Recovery Treatment.


    • Provides harm reduction and resource information for treatment of substance use disorder.
    • Partners with the health department's Epidemiology Section to conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting.
    • Evaluates interventions to determine effectiveness and efficiency and measures key metrics of success for determining outcomes.
    • Collects and analyzes data in order to complete deliverables and reports.
    • Assists in the development of comprehensive plans to address public health issues, such as opioid use disorder, youth violence, domestic violence, mental health, stigma, etc.
    • Identifies and works with community stakeholders such as residents, schools, universities, neighborhood associations, professional organizations, churches, and community based agencies to inform and engage their participation.
    • Attends meetings and community events to promote awareness of opioids.
    • Carries out mandatory assigned tasks related to public health emergency preparedness response, training, and periodic disaster drills.
    • Performs other related duties as required or directed.

    • Knowledge of community resources including the organization of community health care systems and the local public health system.
    • Knowledge of health principles to communicate with diverse audiences.
    • Ability to maintain good working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to develop program goals and objectives and work independently and within a team to achieve those goals and objectives.
    • Ability to prioritize work, Problem-solving and decision making in the face of competing priorities.
    • Ability to facilitate change (behavioral and cultural) in organizations communities and individuals.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently.
    • Ability to interpret epidemiological data, prepare detailed reports and work plans.
    • Proficient in current social media platforms (e.g., Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc.).
    • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), and social media platforms, and other County software applications.
    Physical Requirements

    Work will require lifting and transporting materials and supplies to external locations.

    Special Requirements


    • Must possess a valid Tennessee driver license or secure one upon date of employment.
    • Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
    • Work will require attendance at meetings and activities on weekends and/or after regular work hours.
    • Work will require travel to locations outside of the office.
    • Work may require travel outside of the County upon notification.
