Practice Area Profile
BCG's Energy practice helps companies navigate an increasingly complex business climate. The practice covers the Oil & Gas and Power & Utilities sectors. We also have deep knowledge in Energy transition and Sustainability, Energy Trading and Risk Management and Energy Engineering and Services. Our projects typically apply BCG's core consulting skills in functional areas such as, digitalization, strategy, organisation or performance improvement, but in the distinctive environment of Energy. We also address projects that touch upon more operational or technical challenges, which we deliver through our expert consultants, occasionally partnering with external specialists. We work with the senior leaders of leading international and national oil companies, service providers, utilities, regulators and financial institutions. The Energy Practice has enjoyed rapid and sustained annual growth over several years, representing about 10% of BCG's global business volume. Worldwide over 300 Partners, Principals and Project Leaders focus in the Energy space, supported by a large group of Energy experienced and trained Consultants and Analysts, many with pre-BCG industry experience. What You'll Do
As a Senior Associate/Consultant within BCG's Energy Practice Area, you will be a core member of our practice working alongside some of the world's top minds in the industry shaping the future of the Oil & Gas industry and driving the Energy Transition and Decarbonization of the sector. You will collaborate on challenging projects with team members from many backgrounds, advising clients on a variety of topics, such as:
•Developing a strategy to achieve carbon neutrality for the upstream business area at an international Oil and Gas company
•Defining the diversification strategy into low carbon businesses for an Oil Field Service company
•Supporting M&A deals and post merger acquisitions and integrations
•Transforming the operating model of a drilling company
•Leading the performance turnaround of a service contractor in South America
•Redesigning the organization at an exploration and production subsidiary of an international Oil and Gas player
•Conducting market studies on low carbon energies to enable an Oil and Gas company as part of its Energy Transition plan
•Designing the new offshore operating model of a leading IOC in the North Sea
What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)
• 3 to 8 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, either for an Upstream Operator (IOC, NOC, PE owned) or for a Service Company
• Experience in challenging roles and assets, preferably in technical disciplines (Drilling, Operations, Project development, Geosciences...)
• Passion for the Oil & Gas industry and the decarbonization
• Desire to travel and to support a wide range of clients
• Intellectual curiosity
• Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken
