    JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION:
    Responsible for day-to-day supervision and operation of an area. Could make decisions that may affect the division, department and/or GHS System's financial and performance objectives and strategic results. May assist in the development of budget for area or provide input to manager/director on budget for area. Immediately supervises employees in an area, including responsibility for performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. Performs duties for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

    CRITERIA A:

    JOB FUNCTIONS

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Ensures that departmental priorities are carried out on a daily basis.
    • Ensures that goals and objectives of the department are administered daily and are consistent with management expectations.
    • Ensures that departmental measures for processes and expectations are carried out on a daily basis.
    • Assists manager with recommending alternative methods of providing services to reduce departmental operating costs.
    • Supervises the staff of the department in regards to fluctuations in the workload.
    • Demonstrates effectiveness in supervising assigned staff.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Supervises departmental staff and processes and recommends changes as needed on a daily basis.
    • Supervises operation of the department daily.
    • Provides leadership to maximize the effectiveness of the work performed daily.
    • Works with management and staff on data concerning the department and their activities.
    • Coordinates the daily activities of the assigned work area.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Ensures that policies and procedures are followed.
    • Coordinates the daily productivity of the department.
    • Maintains an effective working relationship with administration and other departments.
    • Monitors the performance improvement program for the department.
    • Coordinates programs that are developed to improve departmental communications.
    • Demonstrates effectiveness in monitoring the daily activities of the department.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Ensures that standards of performance are administered daily.
    • Communicates policy interpretation to staff.
    • Communicates effectively and expresses information clearly to staff
    • Maintains required records, reports and statistics as required.
    • Analyzes operational data and adjusts as necessary to provide adequate, economical service.
    • Assists manager in establishing staffing levels for 24 hour comprehensive coverage and determining work distribution to assure department needs are met.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Collects statistical data on patient registration and provides to manager as requested.
    • Adjusts work distribution to meet needs determined by volume on a daily basis and changes assignments accordingly.
    • Coordinates activities of the department to achieve and maintain efficient and competent registration services.
    • Ensures the efficient operation of business services and inpatient/outpatient registration by overseeing operations and resolving any complaints or concerns.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Effectively coordinates with information services the evaluation and updating of computer programs, reports and documentation.
    • Ensures prompt follow-up to questions or concerns raised by individual physicians, patients and internal/external customers.
    • Establishes and monitors a system/process which ensures that patient admissions and registrations are made in an efficient manner.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Interviews applicants and makes recommendations for employing or terminating employees.
    • Reviews employee performance within defined time lines.
    • Audit areas of performance as identified by management as required, improve performance on a continual basis by applying Performance Improvement processes.
    • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing department activities.
    • Maintains compliance with requirements of JCAHO and legal regulations.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Communicates effectively with patients, family, physicians, and other members of the health care team, as evidenced by positive outcomes and low complaint numbers.
    • Effectively combines ethical judgment and technical skill to produce positive outcomes.
    • Participates in the development of department based goals and implements operational processes to achieve goals.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Articulates department's role in the Revenue Cycle Team.
    • Coordinates department activities with revenue cycle departments to ensure appropriate flow of accounts.
    • Includes staff in decision making for formulating department policy.
    • Plans and strategizes with other members of the team to resolve revenue cycle problems.
    • Assists the manager with the formulation of the unit budget.

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    • Completes assigned projects and reports within defined time lines.
    • Identifies and communicates projected needs for inclusion in the budget.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    Two years experience in Healthcare Registration, Insurance verification in a Hospital setting preferred.

    HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:

    Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: medical record without limitation, patient demographics, lab results, patient financial and 3rd party billing information, patients related complaints, information related to patient location.


    SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

    Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: incident reporting, exposure control plan, hand washing for all age groups.
