POSITION PURPOSE

The Loan Specialist will be responsible for performing a wide variety of member services and clerical duties related to consumer loan collateral.

The LS is responsive to questions, be solution oriented, resolves complex issues to assist members in fulfilling their dreams and financial goals.

The LS oversees the DMV process, answers, or refers questions regarding DMV transactions to supervisor to ensure compliance. LS demonstrates integrity, work ethic and can collaborate with their team to create success and achieve goals.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • DMV transactions are centralized processed by the Loan Specialist. LS then prepares, updates, monitors, and processes paperwork daily including consumer loan processing reviews and compiling.
  • Perfects and releases titles daily in accordance with the State of California DMV regulations.
  • Prepares the loans for mailing to members or forwarding to other branches.
  • Performs collateral verification reviews on consumer Real Estate secured loans.
  • Perfects liens and reviews title policies recorded deeds of trusts and ensures title insurance policies are received.
  • Presents and educates our Credit Union services and products to members and assists in meeting their financial needs.
  • Expert on DMV transactions and can explain policies and procedures to members and Auto Dealers. Providing guidance and assistance in the decisionmaking process pertaining to DMV transactions.
  • In accordance with BSA Rules and Regulations, reports any unusual activity to the Credit Support Manager or Supervisor for further review.
  • Occasionally, reports to DMV for special handling of DMV transactions.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Members, vendor, and professional calls and inquiries are courteously and professionally resolved or referred.
  • Loan information is posted correctly and promptly.
  • Loan processing functions are completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of DMV regulations and processes

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:
High school graduate or equivalent, some college preferred.

Must be solution oriented and assist with complex transactions and sensitive member relations problems.

Experience Required:
Prior clerical experience helpful, particularly in a financial institution environment.


Skills/Abilities:
Strong modern computer skills.

Well organized and able to prioritize.

Attention to detail is extremely important.


Good communication and able to provide extraordinary member service Work is performed in a team environment utilizing each person's unique individual strengths.

Solid math and bookkeeping abilities.
