BISON Transport USA is looking for an outgoing & experienced
Orientation & Terminal Safety Manager for its offices in Amherst, WI.
The Orientation & Terminal Safety Manager will lead our new driver onboarding and ensure terminal safety and compliance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to curriculum development, DOT compliance oversight, accident management, and implementing safety programs. Must provide strong leadership to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies, with a focus on Driver Orientation, Safety Programs, Compliance, Facilities, and Driver Development.
Driver Orientation
- Develop and maintain curriculum to ensure compliance with Bison USA policies & DOT regulations.
- Keep training materials such as videos and slides up to date.
- Collaborate with leaders from various departments to ensure comprehensive coverage of necessary topics.
Driver Safety:
- Engage with drivers to reinforce core safety principles and promote accident prevention.
- Monitor compliance with hoursofservice regulations, ELD usage, and pre/posttrip inspections, in alignment with FMCSA standards.
Accident Response:
- Conduct thorough investigations following accidents or injuries, including root cause analysis and documentation.
- Collaborate in preparing materials and evidence for hearings, lawsuits, and insurance inquiries.
Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures through clear communication, training, and direction to team members.
- Conduct regular audits of the Safety Program to verify compliance with safety policies and procedures.
Supervisory:
- Directly oversee members of the Orientation team.
- Lead recruitment efforts, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
- Plan, delegate and monitor work assignments.
What Will You Need?
- Highschool Diploma Required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in safety within the transportation industry, encompassing DOT regulations, accident response procedures, and driver orientation.
- Experience supervising teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with department managers and external safety groups.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for conveying safety principles, conducting accident investigations, and providing training to employees.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of work, particularly in handling sensitive employee information and accidentrelated documentation.
- Proven ability in conflict resolution, vital for addressing performance issues, managing disputes, and fostering a positive work environment.
