The Resource Recovery Center of Orange County is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to those suffering from Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders. Substance Use Disorders are chronic illnesses, and treatment provided is based upon the presenting needs of the individual. Our goal is to help individuals and families begin the physical, emotional and spiritual healing process by utilizing compassionate, encouraging and evidence-based practices. We ultimately strive to guide individuals, and their families, towards a goal of living life to its full potential-free from addiction.

We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner licensed in NY State with a current Buprenorphine waiver.

The Nurse Practitioner will conduct physical assessments, diagnosis and treat conditions, prescribe medications for adults being treated for substance use disorder.

The NP will assess prospective patients for admission to detox and initiate the detox protocols while maintaining medical documentation consistent with agency, state and federal requirements within our electronic medical record.

The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with the Medical Director. This is a FT position with flexible hours.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct evaluation with relevant history, health assessment based on the patient's signs & symptoms.
  • Identify needs of the patient and make a differential diagnosis based on the clinical presentation, history and clinical findings.
  • Conduct waived testing for urine, blood work and glucose monitoring.
  • Develop a prioritized and mutually acceptable plan of care according to the written practice protocols in collaboration with the physician.
  • Implement a treatment plan that is prioritized and mutually acceptable with appropriate diagnostic tests, pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions, patient education, and with appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Provide systematic followup by evaluating the effectiveness of various treatments provided, therapeutic processes used, their outcome and modifying treatments & management plans as necessary to achieve the optimum mental health goals.
  • Provide educational materials & information needed to make well informed choices and decisions by patients about their health promotion, illness prevention and finally, illness treatment.
  • Facilitate the patient's entry into the primary and mental health care system with appropriate utilization of quality and costeffective health care services.
  • Provide a safe environment for the patient, and promote patient advocacy at the individual and community levels
  • Participate with other professional colleagues to provide comprehensive physical and mental health care.
  • Maintain accurate, legible and confidential medical records.

Requirements:

***Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • Current/valid New York State Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license
  • DEA license
  • Buprenorphine waiver
  • Current basic life support for health providers (BLS)
  • Three (13) years of related work experience
  • ANCC credentialing and certification
  • Demonstrated interest and clinical experience in treating adults with substance use disorder
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well independently and in a multidisciplinary team setting.
