The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) will be integrated with the Crisis Co-Response Team (CCRT) operating in collaboration with the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department.

The LCDC is tasked with providing outreach, screening, assessment, and referral services to individuals in Brazoria County with substance use disorders, ensuring they receive the necessary treatment and support.

Additionally, the LCDC is committed to delivering high-quality care and substance use treatment to participants enrolled in the CCRT programs within Brazoria County.

This involves conducting thorough assessments and facilitating individual counseling sessions within a cohesive team environment.

LCDC will respond to emergency rooms for opioid-related emergencies to offer service linkage to SUD programming and overdose prevention.


Required Education:


  • Requires Associates Degree unless grandfathered in prior to the educational requirements; in this event you must have a minimum of a HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer Bachelors degree from an accredited college or University in the Behavioral Science field of study. (Additional $1/hour ($2,080/annually) for those with Bachelors degree)

Required Licensure/Certifications:


  • LCDC-I license AND must have passed the test and/or completed 2,000 hours.
OR

  • LCDC license in good standing with the state of Texas

Brazoria County Sheriff-Gulf Coast Center Crisis Co-Response LCDC Position will be responsible for the following essential Job Duties:


  • Response to emergency rooms for opioidrelated emergencies to offer service linkage to SUD programming and overdose prevention.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of individuals in crisis.
  • Provide referrals for detox, residential or outpatient treatment.
  • Conducts workshops on substance use prevention, intervention, and health impacts of opioid use.
  • Develop treatment plans if electing outpatient treatment and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
  • If electing detox or residential, determine if HHSC funds can support cost.
  • Offer Narcan training and provide Narcan overdose prevention spray.
  • Connect individuals with community resources, such as sober living facilities, employment opportunities, PCP, and mental health services.
  • Provide substance use screenings in field and officebased settings.
  • Provide Motivational Interviewing and/or Crisis Intervention
  • Referral and followup to substance use/community treatment and related services
  • Case Management for clients seeking services.
  • Participates in weekly Counselor trainings and completes all required LCDC-I paperwork independently and with the coordination of the identified QCC.
  • Information dissemination at public presentations as assigned.
  • Training individuals and family members on Opioid Overdose prevention and rescue
  • Participate in Quarterly Region meetings with the State.
  • Provide Followup as an independent service for clients who decline recommended services as a follow up service for clients who may need further assistance; and/or as clinically indicated or needed.
  • Attend all Recovery and OSAR trainings. Attend all meetings requested by assigned Program Manager. Ensure copies of certification received from training are sent to Human Resources for employee file.
  • Acts as primary counselor for assigned clients enrolled in substance use disorder outpatient services (and their families as appropriate).
  • Provides weekly individual counseling to clients enrolled in substance use disorder outpatient services, identifying any progress and providing any required documentation to the appropriate referral source.
  • Conducts random drug screenings from clients to assess progress or regression in their treatment experience to establish a baseline during treatment.
  • Assists in referring clients to interagency services as needed and connects clients to external services based on clinical necessity.
  • Maintains compliance with all documentation as assigned and required by the GCC policies and procedures.
  • Document all interactions and provide client services and appropriate documentation within the CMBHS electronic medical record system. Ensures that all documentation is reflective of clinical recommendations, free of grammatical errors and refl
