    Summary of Job Duties:
    Provide visionary oversight and strategic leadership for the department of Transition Programs & Initiatives.

    This position will play a crucial role in supporting student success by overseeing the development, implementation, and assessment of programs aimed at facilitating successful transitions for students entering and progressing through their academic journey at the university.

    TPI programmatic areas include First-Generation Student Outreach, First-Year and Transition Initiatives, Class Year Initiatives (sophomore, junior, and senior year programs), and campus welcome programs.

    The director will actively collaborate with academic and student affairs personnel in the design, development, marketing and implementation of programs and services that enhance student transitions.

    Oversees all budgets, financial processes and operations that strengthen and support the departments focus on student transitions, learning, and development.


    The position will provide guidance and leadership for all assessments and data reports and use this information to develop strategic goals and missions for all current and future programs within the department.

    In addition, the Director will supervise and evaluate staff including Associate Director, Assistant Directors, graduate, and undergraduate students.

    The Director will also assist with Student Engagement outreach programs and initiatives as directed by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement.


    Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.



    Qualifications:

    Minimum

    Qualifications:


    • Master's degree from an accredited institution in student affairs, higher education administration or related field
    • At least eight years of successful experience in planning, developing, and implementing complex strategic goals and program initiatives that require the effective management of resources including a large and diverse workforce, significant budget and financial operations, and experience collaborating with students and student leadership
    • Advanced administrative experience in college student activities/programs, orientation, transition, and retention programming, or related field including budget and office management experience
    • Experience fostering collaborations with academic departments, student organizations, campus offices, and external stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness and reach of transition programs and initiatives

    Qualifications:


    • Proven skills as a senior manager and capacity to assess and protect institutional risk, liability, legal compliance and student safety
    • Strong understanding of student development and best practices in student transition programming on a college campus
    • At least five plus years of successful experience in planning, developing, and implementing complex strategic goals and program initiatives that require effective management of resources including a diverse workforce, significant budget and financial operations, and experience collaborating with students and students in campus leadership positions
    • Knowledge of best practices and trends in student transition programming, including familiarity with national organizations such as NASPA, ACPA, and NODA
