Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant
We are looking for a master multi-tasker, someone who is self-motivated and a team player to join the Endoscopy Centers as a Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant.
The primary function of this role involves assisting the Nursing Staff in the care of patients before, during and after endoscopic procedures, assisting in clerical duties, and in maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in the Endoscopy Center, under the direct supervision of Registered Professional Nurses.
Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Assists in preparing patient for procedures and with admission process.
- Provides compassionate care by listening to the patient's needs, problems, concerns.
- Assists with taking and documenting vital signs, before and after procedure. Attaches monitoring equipment. Reports any change or levels outside the acceptable range.
- Assists with patient nourishments, under the direction of the nursing staff.
- Assists with ambulation of patients to and from changing area and/or bathroom and assists with dressing, as needed.
- Accompanies patients to responsible person upon discharge under the direction of the nursing staff.
- Responsible for cleaning and disinfection procedures of stretchers and patient care areas between patients and preparation for subsequent patient's arrival.
- Empties and relines trash receptacles as needed.
- Assists with daily cleaning procedures as needed.
- Assists with scanning, faxing and copying paperwork as needed.
- Post procedure followup phone calls and documentation, under the direction of the nursing staff. Reports any problems, questions or unusual circumstances.
- Discontinues IV fluids, applies pressure dressing at the direction of the Nursing staff.
- Answers phone and directs calls to proper channels
- Other Duties as assigned.
Patient Care Technician/ Medical Assistant Requirements
- High school Diploma or GED
- Previous experience in the medical field a plus
Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 per CMS and State Mandates/Regulations
