Strategic Goals.

  • Instructs students in assigned technical/vocational area(s) and career development skills.
  • Maintains students' awareness of industries' employment needs and requirements.
  • Instructs students in appropriate job seeking and retention skills.
  • Establishes and maintains a welldisciplined and orderly controlled classroom learning environment.
  • Observes and evaluates students' work site performance.
  • Establishes and maintains safety policies and procedures for classroom and work sites.
  • Evaluates students.
  • Instructor will develop, deliver, and revise course outlines, lesson plans, and assessments that are rigorous, relevant, and aligned to standards.
  • Monitors performance by assessing needs, testing skills and knowledge, and then communicating results to students.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains students' training.
  • Communicates effectively with students, administrators, parents, and staff concerning students' progress and program needs, evaluates, selects, develops, and adapts a variety of appropriate instructional materials.
  • Promotes student and communitywide awareness of the BVROP Mental & Behavioral Health
Program and recruit students.

  • Guides students in making careerrelated decisions.
  • Instructs students in appropriate job entry levels.
  • Assists students in obtaining employment.
  • Maintains a variety of complete and accurate records for necessary reports.
  • May assist in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of assigned instructional assistants.
  • Maintains and updates professional skills as appropriate for industry awareness and community involvement as it relates to the successful performance of required duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include skills to instruct students in assigned areas of Mental & Behavioral Health training and career development; to effectively plan, develop, and implement programs related to assignment; to include work in anatomy and physiology, medical core concepts, and physical and occupational therapy aide skills.

Skills to effectively communicate orally and in writing; and to understand and interpret laws and regulations.


EXPERIENCE:


Three (3) years of work experience in the technical skills, trade, or vocations to be taught (Mental orBehavioral Health or related field) are required.

One (1) of the three (3) years of the required experience must be within the last five (5) years, or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years.


EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required
Desirable:

Bachelor's degree or Forty-eight (48) semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of completed college coursework in behavioral or social science.


ABILITY to provide an overview of the development and implementation of treatment plans including leading activity groups and providing rehabilitation/supportive counseling; develop and maintain community networks and educational programs; provide social services such as patient advocacy and placement for both prospective and current patients; ability to effectively assist others to improve and maintain quality mental & behavioral health; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing all medical standards, practices, and procedures required for Behavioral/Mental health certification; ability to effectively instruct students assigned in technical/vocational area(s) and career development skills; ability to establish appropriate learning goals and objectives as well as effective lesson plans; ability to establish and maintain approved and effective discipline and order regarding assigned technical/vocational area(s); ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance possess; ability to develop and maintain a variety of administrative records and prepare periodic and special reports as necessary; ability to safely and effectively operate a variety of machines and equipment appropriate for assigned instruction area(s); ability to meet the travel requirements school campus and clinical sites.


RESPONSIBILITIES include working under standardized instructions and/or routines; providing information and/or advising other persons; and operating within a defined budget and/or financial guidelines.
Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions requires the following physical demands:

Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer
