Description
Oversees Home Delivery service and manages all Independent Contractors in a given geographical area. Efforts result in excellent customer service and maximize route penetration.

  • Recruits and contracts individuals as Independent Contractor Home Delivery carriers. Communicates daily with Independent Contractors to keep within the guidelines of the contract and within established service standards.
  • Ensures Home delivery routes are an appropriate size to provide adequate profit margins, meet established service standards, and to allow for circulation growth.
  • Responsible for newspaper deliveries on routes that are not contracted meeting delivery expectations.
  • Works with circulation management in the implementation of service and carrier retention programs.
  • Provides leadership and encourages teamwork resulting in achievement of goals.
  • Communicates with customers and colleagues in a timely and professional manner that meets or exceeds customer service expectations.
  • Completes all paperwork as prioritized to meet deadlines.
  • Other duties and functions as assigned reasonably associated with the position.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:


  • High School education or equivalent experience required.
  • Must be 21 years of age/(must have had a driver's license for a minimum of one year)
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle.
  • Valid certificate of motor vehicle insurance.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to bend and twist to load product, from a conveyor or other drop locations, inside the vehicle prior to departure. Bundles weigh between 10 and 25 lbs. each.
  • Ability to get in/out of the vehicle up to 200 times per shift to deliver either individual home delivery subscriptions, bundles to individual drop sites or retail establishments.
  • Able to remove a hand full of product at a time from the vehicle to discard in the recycling. The weight of the product will vary from approximately 10 to 25 lbs. depending on the assigned schedule.
  • Ability to load, unload and handle miscellaneous office supplies to include but not limited to the ability to put up tubes, posts, handle cases of plastic sleeves, etc. Weight of supplies may vary depending on items (up to 30 lbs.).
