The Oncology Data Science (ODS) organization has recently been established to centralize data, engineering, analytics, and AI expertise to drive the early and late Oncology drug development portfolio with data science-driven insights.

As such, there is a heightened emphasis on this central ODS organization maintaining collaborations across Oncology teams, developing strategic partnerships and alliances with academic and technology industry leaders, and maintaining rich partnerships across ODS and supporting units like the Data Office and IT in the development of foundational platforms and innovative data science approaches.

The External Partnerships Program Manager will be a part of a developing team that works across a dynamic landscape translating ODS objectives into pivotal initiatives, creating business cases planning for the right balance of resources, and providing structure supporting highly talented teams in achieving their goals.

This role requires an individual who thrives at the forefront of developing new opportunities, challenging norms, and collaboratively charting new waters, guiding matrix teams while being knowledgeable of internal policies and regulations impacting pharmaceutical development.


Specifically, the Strategic Alliances Director will focus on the search, deal design, development, and enablement of strategic partnerships and alliances with leading academic hospitals and universities, diagnostic and lab partners, technology leaders and healthcare data providers in the fields of precision medicine, translational medicine, real world evidence, and artificial intelligence.

Partnering closely with colleagues across Oncology Data Science, the Strategic Alliances Director will centralize partnership evaluation and development to enable collaborative data science including but not limited to business case development, contract development, compliant data sharing and governance, partnership delivery and value.

Further, this role will engage in competitive and industry landscaping while searching and evaluating potential Oncology data science partners, data, and technology.


Major Duties and Qualifications:


  • Demonstrate leadership in identifying and supporting new data science driven strategic partnership opportunities; align internal Oncology R&D stakeholders and external partners in the design of detailed partnership and/or data licensing plans shaping them into actionable business cases
  • Establish and monitor Oncology data science external partnership and real world data landscape; working with therapeutic area data strategy teams, monitoring for industry trends and portfolio opportunities, engaging key opinion leaders and scientific and technology partners, establishing a search and evaluation process
  • Drive compliant logístical enablement and governance of external partnerships working crossfunctionally with stakeholders, the data office, and data operations teams to setup compliant data sharing, data preparation and alignment, and secure collaborative data platforms to meet contractual, legal, and regulatory obligations
  • Establish external partnership management structure to improve the value of partnerships and/or licensed data; deliver partnership scorecard objectives leading and maintaining collaborative teams, develop crossfunctional internal matrix teams to complete projects, hold partners and supporting units accountable for delivery, and communicate successes and value
  • Demonstrate ability to guide external partnership data strategy and technology discussions having working knowledge of data compliance topics including but not limited to patient consent, human biosamples, data privacy, and responsible AI regulations as well as pharmaceutical data quality practices
  • Demonstrate ability to support science discussions having knowledge of healthcare, clinical, molecular, medical imaging, and lab based data and analysis
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and close awareness of corporate initiatives and industry standards and regulations
