JOB SUMMARY:


Position accountable for coordinating the work of plant maintenance department, ensuring that maintenance activities are performed with minimum interruption of production operations and in compliance with all company rules and safety practices.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Handson execution of work order scheduling and planning work with the maintenance team.
  • Achieve team objectives while minimizing interruptions to production operations and achieving maximum cost efficiency.
  • Eliminate problems related to malfunctioning of machinery and equipment, safety hazards, facilities repair or requests to maintain operations.
  • Work daily with maintenance staff on other shifts to help coordinate departmental activities and effectively support the 24 hour demands of plant operations.
  • Interact in a professional manner with all departments as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot production problems as necessary with emphasis on reducing downtime.
  • Identify and request materials required for successful maintenance operations.
  • Monitor maintenance operation for nonconformity in processes and procedures, report inconsistencies to maintenance management.
  • Assist in training and development of existing and new employees. Help implement new processes and procedures as necessary.
  • Assist in collection, filing and distribution of maintenance work orders, reports and paperwork.
  • Perform other related work, including overtime work, as required or assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Requires working knowledge of production equipment, operational processes and production standard operational procedures. Demonstrated ability in communication skills, preferably in both English and Spanish.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to manage subordinate maintenance staff.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems for production and other plant equipment and consult with Maintenance Department when necessary.
  • Ability to read and understand technical information, work orders, and labels.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of employees.
  • Working knowledge of standard operating procedures including, but not limited to, USDA guidelines, OSHA requirements, HAACP guidelines, GMPs, quality specifications, employee handbook, and company policies.

WORKING CLIMATE:

Most of this job is performed in an active fashion with long periods of unrestricted standing, walking, bending, or stooping.

Position involves lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds. Strong eye-hand coordination is necessary. Job may entail work in cold, wet environment.
