Description
Director of FinanceJob Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide administrative supervision of the department. Schedule work load of staff, maintain records, and interpret policy and/or legislation pertaining to program operations.
Responsible for establishing or review of all accounting systems, procedures, and policies.
Responsible for developing the agency's cost allocation system and implementing within the agency's automated accounting system and grant programs.
Supervise the maintenance of the accounting records.
Manage the necessary financial and other reporting requirements with local, state and federal
governments.
Prepare or assist program directors in preparation of all program budgets for the Area Plan and all other interim program budgets.
Responsible for the maintenance and utilization of the client database software.
Responsible for review of subcontract budgets and for processing of monthly billing.
Handles preparation of the agency's annual single agency audit, retirement plan audit and any
intermittent program audits.
Prepares close out of grants and programs, at the end of the grant and the end of the fiscal year.
Maintains finance and information technology staff results by counseling and disciplining
employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree in accounting, business administration or finance from an accredited college or university with 5 years experience in the accounting field and 5 years related management and/or supervisory experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIESKnowledge of applicable federal and state standards and regulations.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
Knowledge of auditing standards and proper internal controls.
Ability to organize and coordinate the work of others
SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Advanced: 10-Key, Accounting, Database, Payroll Systems, Spreadsheet
Intermediate:
Word Processing/Typing

Basic Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or finance from an accredited college or university.
At least 5 years experience in the accounting field.
Extensive work and experience with Data Base Programs.
Advanced skills working with Excel.
