Definition:

This is a part-time position with the Fire & Rescue Services Department.

An individual in this position is to be an active member of the department's Community Risk Reduction efforts, marketing and community event planning.

This position is the liaison for events and marketing of department to the community.

Reporting relationship:
Fire Chief or their designee


Examples of Work:


  • Event planning for community engagement including but not limited to planning, preparing, scheduling, coordinating and assisting in community education and risk reduction programs and training classes utilizing department staffing and resources.
  • Social media and marketing of department
  • Develop professional and comprehensive participant handouts, PowerPoint presentations, class flyers, or pamphlets to support community education and risk reduction training needs.
  • Manage online scheduling programs such as scheduling a Fire Truck, Smoke Detector Programs, CPR Programs, Car Seat Programs and home safety inspections.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of the Department's community education and risk reduction media campaigns, ongoing social media and public outreach efforts photography, videography and marketing design.
  • Enter data postevents to track the number of events, event attendance, type of event and staff attendance.
  • Serve as a Department resource to refer and connect community residents to a variety of health & wellness services, particularly highrisk, vulnerable and underserved populations.
  • Partake in public relations events.
  • Assist and support afterhours and weekend events as needed for City Functions throughout the year.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Flexible days and hours schedule available. Must also be available to work a flexible schedule including, occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, or Certification:


Required to apply

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate

Preferred Experience

  • Public Relations event planning
  • Social Media and Marketing

  • The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
