Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill two (2) part-time vacancies for the classification of Security Officer in the Police Department. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, ensures a safe and secure environment for City of Henderson employees and visitors; protects City of Henderson property; and performs related duties as assigned.
VACANCY INFORMATION:
+ The current two vacancies are for part-time, PERS-eligible positions.
+ Work schedule will consist of an average of 25-29 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need.
+ The course of work will occur between Monday and Thursday, between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Work schedule/shift assignment within those parameters will be determined upon hire.
+ This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits or wage increases.
+ This list may be utilized to fill future vacancies for both non-PERS eligible and PERS eligible positions. Information pertaining to the PERS status will be communicated to candidates during the interview process.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Graduation from high school, or the equivalent
+ Three (3) years of professional security, law enforcement, or military police experience which included extensive contact with the public
+ Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
+ Possess certification in CPR, basic first aid, and Automated External Defibrillator within 3 months of appointment
+ Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.
+ Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment

The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best-qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
