Los Angeles based property management firm is looking for a GL accountant to join the team. This position will be working out of the corporate office which is minutes away from DTLA.

Job Summary:


Under the direction of the Controller, the GL Accountant is responsible for computing and preparing data for journal entries, reviewing general ledger and related financial statements for accuracy, and preparing monthly reconciliations.

Assist in preparation for the internal & external audits. Knowledge of and adherence to company policies and procedures.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and post all journal entries for cash deposit on the same day.
  • Prepare and post all journal entries for all general ledger accounts accurately and timely.
  • Ensure all capital assets purchased are posted to appropriate general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to determine any miscoding and make all necessary reclassification to proper accounts.
  • Ensure all Balance Sheet accounts are balanced and accurate.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports for individual property and consolidated financial statements.
  • Assist in reviewing, researching and reconciling financial statements from 3rd party management companies.
  • Assist in General Ledger Month-End Close preparation.
  • Prepare HUD files for the HUD audits.
  • Prepare tax files for tax returns.
  • Assist in submitting Replacement Reserve Refunds
  • Assist in tenant rent increase process.
  • Ensure that all inquiries and requests from the owner and Senior Management are handled promptly.
  • Maintain documentation for compliance to the company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Training, and Education Requirements:


Minimum requirements:


  • College AA degree or higher is required.
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of Yardi is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong spreadsheet skill in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multitasks.
  • Time management skills.
