Fördern & Wohnen (F&W) provides shelter and support for homeless individuals and helps them get back on their feet. Refugees also find temporary accommodation here. F&W creates housing opportunities for people who face particular challenges in the housing market. People with disabilities or mental illnesses live at F&W and experience participation. F&W Fördern & Wohnen AöR is a subsidiary of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. With around
2,000 employees, it is present at over
200 locations to support people.

At 6 locations, F&W operates decentralized initial reception facilities for asylum seekers who arrive in Hamburg.

For refugees and immigrants who apply for asylum in Hamburg, the arrival center (central initial reception) in the Rahlstedt district is the first point of contact.

Refugees who stay in Hamburg are then placed in one of several initial reception facilities in the city. During their limited stay of 6 months, refugees live in shared rooms and receive full board. Our employees are on site 7 days a week and support refugees in various matters.
