Essential Functions

  • Addressing FOIA requests, appeals, and litigation backlogs, as well as other disclosure products as assigned
  • Aiding in reducing the number of backlog cases of varying volume and complexity, by focusing on the oldest requests and appeals by consulting the relevant fiscal year during the timeframe assigned
  • Assisting the process of new FOIA requests (nonbacklogged requests)
  • Supporting the intake of FOIA request, appeals, and litigations in accordance with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) FOIA regulations and standard operating procedures
  • Aiding in processing FOIA litigation productions in accordance with the law and US Department of Justice guidelines, HHS FOIA regulations and standard operating procedures, ensuring court deadlines for interim release are met
  • Helping to support the department level activities related to policy, implementation, and compliance with the FOIA Privacy Act of 1974 and HHS regulations
  • Assisting with FOIA training objectives across the assigned department
  • Aiding in management and maintenance of the FOIA website to include; FOIA reading room postings, maintaining FOIA contacts page, and evaluating content to ensure it meets customers' expectations
  • Helping to provide FOIA management tools on behalf of the government
  • Providing services to support research and development required to implement innovative technology to improve production rates and reduce processing times for responding to FOIA requests, appeals, and litigation
  • Understanding the organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables to the client
  • Demonstrating a commitment to quality and customer support
