Clinical Exercise Physiologist


Gain Health PLLC is a healthy lifestyle clinic and we are about to launch a new Intensive Cardiac Rehab Center.

We're looking for a passionate and knowledgeable expert in physical activity and exercise training/coaching to join our team. Our team will support cardiac patients' journeys toward adopting a healthier lifestyle. Our three-tiered approach includes exercise, nutrition and a healthy mind-set, using the highly successful Pritikin educational approach.

Our Clinical Exercise Physiologist will administer the exercise pillar of the program, with opportunities to expand and grow with the program.

Gain Health is a spin-off of Flora Medical Clinic, a primary care lifestyle medicine clinic since 2014.


Job Summary


The clinical exercise physiologist will work in the intensive cardiac rehabilitation group setting, delivering direct patient care through a team-based, collaborative approach in all phases of intensive cardiac rehabilitation and services.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and monitoring of patients in intensive cardiac rehabilitation classes. Provides ongoing assessment of aerobic, strength and work capacity levels for all patients. Actively engages and participates in all classes at all times of services.
  • Performs accurate and effective patient admission intakes utilizing motivational interviewing skills, as well as providing precise, individual exercise prescriptions in accordance with but not limited to, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehab (AACVPR), and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
  • Executes proper symptomlimited submax graded exercise stress tests under AACVPR and ACSM guidelines.
  • Always ensures patient safety by continuously assessing patient appropriateness levels and health status throughout the program.
  • Evaluates patient needs for lifestyle improvement and delivers effective patient education on riskfactor modification and exercise compliance.
  • Maintains current and evidencebased science knowledge. Delivers sound practice that incorporates science. Advocates the promotion of both the science and the practice of Lifestyle Medicine.
  • Communicates and properly refers patients to appropriate physicians if needed.
  • Maintains a clean and working environment for all staff personnel and individual patients.
  • Properly cleans all machines in accordance with departmental routines, policies, and procedures.
  • Promotes a collaborative, teambased approach of patientcentered care.
  • Ensures all patient information and documentation is kept organized and stored under HIPAA regulations.
  • Confirms all patients are up to date with departmental schedules and special holidays.
  • Works on process improvement plans administered by the Medical Director
  • Reports directly to the Medical Director

Skills
The clinical EP must possess and/or be willing to learn the following skills:

  • Maintains complete and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Understands and interprets basic ECG.
  • Accurately assesses vital signs at rest and during exercise
  • Assesses and measures individual blood sugar levels using a glucometer.
  • Adjusts exercising workloads within acceptable parameters
Preferred Educational background and Qualifications.

  • Master's degree in exercise science or related field
  • Certified through the American College of Sports Medicine with the following certification: Exercise Physiologist or
  • Clinical Exercise Physiologist, AND/OR certified through American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation with active CCRP certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, preferred
  • A working history of at least one 1 year; 35 years preferred, in cardiac rehabilitation, medical fitness, and/or physical medicine.
