About the Job:


The primary responsibility of this position is to safely manage warehouse inventory through the receiving and shipping process and to move product with the use of large capacity (5k - 52k lbs.) forklifts and driven overhead gantry cranes, once training is complete.

Labor conducted by this role is physical in nature, performed in confined spaces, with higher-than-normal temperatures.


In This Role, You Will:


  • Open warehouse and prepare for workday; lights, doors, etc.
  • Work on warehouse floor, in servicing yard and inside of containers (confined spaces) to perform the following functions:
  • Remove wood blocking/bracing supporting product
  • Conduct banding and strapping functions
  • Assist with warehouse cleanup after material movement
  • Operate driven gantry cranes and large capacity forklifts (15k 52k lbs.) to safely move product.
  • Follow company guidelines and procedures for proper warning signals when operating cranes and forklifts.
  • Ensure equipment is not overloaded.
  • Follow company guidelines and procedures for the safe loading and unloading of material.
  • Lift and move around the warehouse materials and containers up to and greater than 50 lbs., following safe lifting protocols.
  • Pull work orders.
  • Receive and ship product through inbound/outbound scanning process using a handheld scanner.
  • Inspect material and make notations of any exceptions and or damages for all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Organize material and inventory within the warehouse.
  • Work inside of containers (confined spaces) to perform duties around wood removal, cleanup, banding and strapping
  • Package steel coils and prepare them for shipment.
  • Remove and secure bulkheads against steel coils in railcars.
  • Remove debris and clean out railcars prior to loading.
  • Communicate any incidents, accidents, damages, claims to management immediately.
  • Use company guidelines and instructions to properly signal information and instructions to crane operator(s).
  • Use company guidelines, instructions, policies, procedures, and follow OSHA regulations in the performance of all job functions.
  • Perform regular and routine inspection of equipment and monitor fluid levels to ensure optimum performance of equipment and safety.
  • Ensure inventory and material is stored safely and blocked properly.
  • Ensure work environment and areas are clean.
  • Complete daily paperwork and record data.
  • Participate in meetings, and on committees as instructed or needed.
  • Participate in cross training, development programs and obtain any certifications as needed or requested by management.
  • Ensure proper personal protective equipment is in good repair and worn in accordance with OSHA regulations and Company policy.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AND PROJECTS AS ASSIGNED.

Qualifications:


Required:


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a work environment with confined spaces and physically intense labor, such as breaking down crates, and banding and strapping materials.
  • Previous experience working in transportation or metals warehousing industry is preferred.
  • Experience with forklifts, driven overhead gantry cranes, track mobile, and handheld RFID scanners is preferred.
  • Microsoft Office literate with ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.

Location:

This is an in-office role based in Vernon, CA


Shift:

Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

your specific skills and experience, geographic location, or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.
