JOB SUMMARY:


This person will be responsible for leading core financial and reporting processes, while partnering with the business to drive performance that enables effective strategic decision-making.

With input and guidance from the VP Corporate Controller, CFO, CEO and other key executives, this position will manage and maintain a best in class approach to all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, financial resource allocation, and R&D and manufacturing accounting accrual processes.

This FP&A Consultant will play a critical role in future capital fund raises, partnering and business development efforts, and maintain a high level of collaboration across the organization.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Understand and facilitate the integration of business processes, people, and relevant technology, in order to identify, configure, and communicate useful information, and to provide practical business counsel to support project teams across the company
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, monthly forecasts and monthend reporting of actual results, including variance analysis to forecast and budget
  • Conduct reviews of business processes and expenditures to identify synergy savings and remove nonvalue added practices
  • Provide business/financial analysis and decision support that allows management to evaluate alternatives, make factbased decisions, and evaluate the consequences of decisions
  • Develop and prepare monthend performance dashboard and present results to cross functional senior leadership team
  • Participate as a key thought leader of the finance team, influencing decision making, identifying finance priorities, managing directly and indirectly finance staff
  • Drive the annual, quarterly and monthly budget process while working to improve the accuracy of the forecast process
  • Prepare and deliver presentations in support of board and shareholder meetings, monthly/quarterly senior leadership team meetings and various strategic initiatives of the company, and support the strategic business planning process
  • Establish meaningful reports and analytics that support the needs of internal senior leaders and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with functional leaders to standardize monthly financial reviews and establish a more comprehensive forecasting and budgeting process
  • Building deep business partner relationships across the organization to drive cost savings and efficiency improvements
  • Manages financial reporting to external collaborators of development programs as well as any government grants
  • Ad hoc analytical support for VP Corporate Controller and Executive Leadership
  • Manage accounting processes for research and development, manufacturing, and Clinical Trial accruals, working closely with business partners to gather required information.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:


  • B.S./B.A. required; MBA/CFA preferred
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in FP&A, in biotechnology or the life science industry
  • Proven experience as a strategic business partner across functions and at multiple levels. Strong collaboration, communication and listening skills.
  • Robust understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, P&L management and GAAP
  • Team player, able to meet tight deadlines and influence without authority
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint; Previous experience with Oracle Fusion/Adaptive Insights preferred
