OUTCOMES
To help maintain a clean, healthy, and secure environment for employees and users of the Norridge Citadel Corps.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform general custodial duties, to include, but not limited to vacuuming, mopping, carpet shampooing, emptying trash, cleaning kitchen and washrooms, maintaining a sanitary environment.
  • Maintain an inventory of custodial supplies and notify supervisor of supply and equipment needs in a timely manner.
  • Prepare rooms for activities, ensuring that there is requested equipment available.
  • Monitor equipment (freezers, refrigerators, heating/cooling) and perform routine upkeep and minor repairs as required to maintain the safety of the environment).
  • Monitor Salvation Army vehicles for routine maintenance and fuel needs.
  • Supervise the court ordered community service workers as they assist in completion of custodial tasks.
  • Maintain the safety and security of the building and occupants.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS


Under direct supervision of the Business Manager with some freedom to plan, schedule and carry out responsibilities within established policies and guidelines.

This individual relates to, and interacts with, a wide range of contacts both within and outside the Salvation Army. In these contacts, they act as a representative of the Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS


This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

A 30, 60, and 90-day performance review will be conducted.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Two years of experience in building maintenance or custodial services.

COMPETENCIES

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative and be a selfstarter.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks.
  • An attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
  • Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

  • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
  • This individual will keep the Business Manager informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
  • This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is required to do light to heavy physical work. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to perform all duties as required in cleaning all areas of the building and use the tools/equipment used in building/grounds maintenance.
  • The work environment for this position includes a Corps/Community Center environment with a low to high noise level.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
This would include but not be limited to such actions:

resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients, and visitors; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.
