They work closely with specialists such as doctors, operating nurses, or anesthesia nurses - and require extensive medical and technical knowledge.

They work in operative, outpatient, and endoscopic specialist departments of university and specialist clinics, general hospitals, and specialist medical practices.

OTA assist in surgeries and operate state-of-the-art surgical instruments while ensuring compliance with strict hygiene regulations. They prepare operating rooms and patients for upcoming procedures.

They also take care of the maintenance of medical equipment and instruments and handle documentation and administrative tasks after the surgery.

As you will need to operate various modern devices in the operating room, a confident handling of digital technology is one of the key requirements for this profession.

In addition to being reliable and responsible, OTA should also be able to organize themselves independently and work flexibly in constantly changing teams.

During the practical training, you will work and learn in the specialist departments of the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel and Lübeck.
