Performs a variety of duties associated with the receiving of shipments at Smith & Wesson which includes fully functional and firearm components.

These duties may be manual or machine oriented.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Essential duties_include the following. Other duties may be assigned._
  • Employee has acquired a standard fork truck license.
  • Employee can safely handle and transport materials, parts, finished goods, supplies, etc., to their destination around the plant.
  • Employee can perform all jobrelated tasks in the VP stockroom and inventory carousels including acquiring a high reach fork truck license.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires appropriate training and experience to fulfill all requirements of work areas described above.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School/GED, Degree requirements, prior experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be able to read, write and interpret English language.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Basic computer skills necessary
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Driver's License for use of fork trucks

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Complete all necessary training as required by assigned department and position.
  • Participate in and follow all company initiatives
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects (Kaizen events, 5S, etc)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Continuous: standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, and reaching.
  • Occasional: kneeling, sitting, squatting, overhead work, fine and gross upper body motor movement
  • Maximum lift: may exceed 30 pounds with assisted lifting
  • Must be able to maneuver heavy cartons to floor or pallet; and move to designated area using a handtruck.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes vision, hearing, and footwear.
  • Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting.
  • Required annual vision update in Medical Department.
  • Mandatory involvement in the hearing conservation program.
  • Mandatory involvement in the lead surveillance program.
  • Mandatory wearing of certified safety glasses.
  • Required annual medical screening in the Medical Department.
  • Mandatory participation in the stretching program.
  • Continuous use of receiving equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations.

Will be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with moving around machinery, work in confined quarters, exposed to vibrations and shop lighting.
