Overview:


As a member of AFSCME Local 1716, Lead Facility Workers are responsible for ensuring set-up and tear downs for events are completed according to specifications in a safe and timely manner.

They are also responsible for basic maintenance and upkeep of both the building and property as well as help in the oversight of all tasks assigned to Facility Workers.

This role will pay from $25.36 to $27.46 per hour.

The XL Center is Connecticut's premier destination for sports & entertainment.


The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the five-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team.

Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses.


The XL Center is also home to the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.


The XL Center entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season.

The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world-renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others.


The XL Center will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.


Responsibilities:


  • Arrives for work on time for each scheduled shift, in uniform and ready to work
  • Must be able to work overnight hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to give/take both verbal and written direction
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis
  • Ability to stand on feet for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, climb stairs, and reach/lift above head in conjunction with conversion tasks
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Performs setup and tear down duties
  • Performs daily operations and general building maintenance during nonevent days
  • Performs general landscaping of the property
  • Works safely, quickly, and efficiently to meet all deadlines
  • Maintains a positive, outgoing demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Basic computer skills
  • All other tasks assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Prior conversion or event experience, preferred
  • Prior landscaping or snow removal experience, preferred
  • Prior lead/supervisory role, preferred
  • OSHA 10, preferred
  • Prior forklift training, preferred
  • Prior rideon scrubber training, preferred
  • Basic carpentry and drywall knowledge, preferred
