- Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
- Travels through assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone.
- Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
- Negotiates pricing based on what the market will bear while maintaining profit goals of the company.
- Achieve or exceed territory sales budget as well as contributing additional sales to help achieve overall regional sales budgets.
- Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
- Estimate date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's delivery schedules.
- Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
- Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
- Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts along with providing information to help set usage levels.
- Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries and products.
- Attends trade shows.

- Associate degree (A. A.) from two-year college or technical school.
- Minimum of three (3) years Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Wholesale Distribution Sales experience.
- Technical knowledge of HVAC equipment, parts supplies and accessories service and installation.
- In depth knowledge of warehouse, purchasing, data processing, paper flow and operations procedures.
- Must have the ability to negotiate transactions on an intra- and inter-company level. Must possess the ability to mediate situations among customers as they arise.
- Beginner to intermediate user of the Internet and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to learn new software quickly and accurately.
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license along with continuous and current vehicle insurance based on Company policy.
