    Job Summary and Qualifications


    Under general supervision, the Special Procedure Technologist will cooperate with the Interventional Radiologist, nurses, anesthesia personnel and all staff members to ensure a safe outcome for the patient.

    The Special Procedures Technologist will perform after hours call including availability to answer questions regarding service.

    He/she will operate the technical imaging equipment related to patient care imaging, image processing, image transmission, importing of images and all aspects of the Radiology Information System as required of the Special Procedures Technologist.

    The Special Procedures Technologist will perform imaging procedures using standardized protocols, producing the highest quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist.

    He/she will assist the Radiologist with SP procedures to include the administration of contrast media, procedure/room set up and assist with biopsies/drainages, procure lab specimens as directed by the Radiologist.

    The SP Technologist is required to know sterile technique and perform as a scrub tech for the Radiologist. The SP Technologist will be responsible for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of the Special Procedures room. He/she will order and maintain all supplies and be responsible for monitoring expiration dates. The Special Procedures Technologist will assure that charge reconciliation has been performed daily. The Special Procedures Technologist will assure that radiologist protocols are maintained and current at all times.


    What qualifications you will need:

    • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • State of Florida Registered Radiologic Technologist
    • Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
    • Cardiac-Interventional Radiographer must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
    • Associate Degree in Radiology Technology
    • Ability to deviate from normal techniques when necessary and to develop new and better techniques to keep the department up to date
    • Ability to help patients from bed or stretchers utilizing proper body mechanics. Have to stand for long periods of time
    • Ability to coordinate all procedures following the Radiologist Protocols.
    • Ability to follow and distribute the proper preparation for the exam per the radiologist protocol
    • Ability to prioritize procedures
    • Ability to position patient and adjust equipment to produce desired radiographic image
    • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment with patients during radiographic procedures
    • Ability to examine radiographs for the purpose of evaluating techniques, positions, and other related qualities
    • Ability to determine exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic images with a minimum exposure to patients
