High School or Secondary school Diploma.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center, other critical environment, or Technical (Military/Trade) experience.
  • 5+ years experience re: understanding of the electrical or mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as: transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, pumps, chillers, and air handling units.
  • 5+ years experience as a people manager.
  • 1+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving.
  • 1+ years of experience with reading and understanding schematics and blueprints.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will lead the maintenance program of data center critical infrastructure equipment ensuring % uptime of the world's largest cloud computing portfolio.
  • Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career. Prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators, manage projects, coach and create documentation. Guide, train and educate staff on best practices related to all service owner issues.
  • Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switch gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
  • Act as an escalation point for all facilitiesrelated issues.
  • Engage in improvement projects, often requiring reaching out to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
  • Coordinate daily with third party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
  • Communicate complex technical information to a nontechnical audience.
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
  • Test safety, quality, reliability, and performance of products, equipment and processes.
A day in the life

  • Data Centers are a 24/7 operation. Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs, to include working nights.
  • Role may support more than one location/site.
  • Role is expected to respond to outofhours emergency calls.
