Description:


  • Serves as RTFE for assigned complex TSF(s) and is responsible for the integrity of the TSF(s). Responsible for the scope of work and budget requirements for the tailings facility, including risk management. Responsible for liaising with the EoR, operations, planning, regulatory affairs, social performance and environment teams. Responsible for the implementation of the design. Responsible for the establishment of a change management system. Responsible for the monitoring system and communication of the results to the EoR, including performance reviews. Responsible to deliver required documentation. Interfaces routinely with site leadership and Accountable Executive.
  • Serves as a technical specialist and perform critical review of geotechnical aspects of crushed leach pads, tailings dams, water dams, levees and infrastructure foundation/civil design investigations and designs. Stay abreast of the state of the practice in Geotechnical Engineering to fulfill this role.
  • Collaborates to continuously ensure good performance of tailings, crushed leach, and water management areas and to identify and implement associated improvements. This includes engaging the Engineer of Record in the design and operations of TSF, CL and WD facilities.
  • Provides guidance to Managers and Engineers on applicable programs, practices, and regulations. Review reports for design and operations projects and provide recommendations to site team and to project consultants. Facilitate interaction with other functional areas/disciplines.
  • Interprets Geotechnical theory and practice and provide recommendations to Management to aid in decision making.
  • Acts as a company resource and mentor in the practice of Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Proactively identifies and champions new technologies and management programs that will optimize operational operations and improve safety.
  • Ensures optimization of ongoing and proposed dams, crushed leach pads and plan foundation structures through technology transfer and benchmarking.
  • Contributes to strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas. Manage appropriate budgets for consulting and other services.
  • Represents the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related Engineering discipline from an accredited curriculum, with courses in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering and ten (10) years of experience in an applicable field of expertise, including lead or supervisory experience; OR
  • Master's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related Engineering discipline from an accredited curriculum, with courses in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering and eight (8) years of experience in an applicable field of expertise, including lead or supervisory experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing in English to a diversely educated audience
  • Knowledge in the principles and practices of Civil, Geologic, Geotechnical, or Hydrologic Engineering or a related field of Engineering
  • Able to demonstrate technical competence through design and/or operations experience in at least one of the following work areas: tailings storage facilities, crushed leach facilities, water dams, process water b
