Description:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT).

Within NHTSA, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) strives to successfully manage information processing challenges that effectively meet statutory obligations and deadlines while processing increasing volumes and managing the complexities of incoming information and an expanding user base.


Summary of Work:

Ensure the stability and availability of mission critical on-prem and could based Oracle and future state databases. Work as an essential part of the O&M team to resolve data dependencies associated with system defects and outages. Preserve and test the health of the databases and ensure their security and integrity.
Cloud experience is a must have.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Configure, test, deploy, and validate Oracle cluster and standalone database upgrades
  • Perform critical maintenance and database upgrades to preserve system uptime
  • Perform routine maintenance and database upgrades to ensure system health
  • Perform daily database health checks in concert with the rest of the O&M team
  • Provide consultation and guidance regarding best approaches to database maintenance and upgrades including, but not limited to LOE and time to resolve
  • Resolve configuration issues and triage to resolution data centered or data adjacent defects
  • Provide break/fix support to Government equipment
  • Support and update/upgrade AWS Cloud database instances
  • Routine database administration, including running ad hoc queries on demand, technical troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Data migration responsibilities include
:

troubleshoot DMS issues, backup & restore backups, Cloud watch logs

  • Coding Cloudformation templates for DMS and Alarms
  • Coding in Postgres database

Requirements:


Qualifications:

Knowledge of DMS (Data Migration System)

  • Should able to
:

troubleshoot DMS Issue
review cloud watch logs
review RDS and DMS alarm and coordinate necessary actions
code Stored functions, ad-hoc queries and tune-up functions/code in Postgres database

  • Postgres Database expertise
  • Code Cloudformation template for DMS, and Alarms
  • Advanced expert on
    Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Database and SQL Server

  • Expert with
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and Window 2008+ Servers
:


  • Database Exports and Imports, Database Archiving Skills, Provisioning Databases
  • SQL Tuning
  • PL/SQL Development
:

Experience writing & modifying stored procedures and SQL functions

  • Ability to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot issues with customer equipment
  • Ability to install hardware components and peripherals
  • Must be able to work a shift between 7

00 pm M-F Eastern Time

  • Must be able to occasionally work outside of core hours for systems upgrades or in response to a system outage

S Computer Engineering or equivalent
