- Assist the Physician in the OR during cases
- Rounding on patients - Pre and Post procedural
- Educating patients and family members
- Discharge patient's in accordance to the Physician's instructions
- Conducting patient visits and assessments. Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations
- Participates in and provides clinical care to patients through interview and observation, evaluation and assessment, intervention, planning and written documentation during their visit
- Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients
- Assisting with office-based procedures.
- Fielding patient phone calls and addressing inquiries.
- Placing orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests
- Providing simple follow-up care and instructions to patients
- Facilitating pre-operative clearances, orders, and necessary testing
- Writing comprehensive progress notes in the office on behalf of the physician, ensuring accurate and thorough record-keeping.
- Triaging during office hours, to ensure the doctor is running on time
- Interprets laboratory and test results.
- Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care
- Preparing cases for Tumor Board presentation bi-weekly
- PA - Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, minimum Bachelor's degree required
- Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C)
- BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted:
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program
- No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
- DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities.
- Minimum of two years experience as an APP in a physician practice or ambulatory environment preferred. General surgery/Breast surgery highly preferred.
